Jones tapped as associate circuit judge
QUINCY — Frank McCartney, chief judge of the Eighth Judicial Circuit, announced Monday the circuit judges’ selection of Josh Jones as the new associate judge in the Eighth Circuit.
Jones will replace Judge Debra Wellborn, who is retiring on July 2. Jones’ investiture ceremony will be shortly after that.
“I’m humbled and honored by the faith the judges have shown in me,” Jones said in a press release. “I will do my best to serve the people of Adams County and the rest of the circuit.”
Jones had applied for another vacancy as well: the office of Judge of the Circuit Court for the Eighth Judicial Circuit, which was created by the Illinois Courts Commission with the removal of Judge Robert Adrian, effective Feb. 23. Under the Illinois Constitution, the vacancy will be filled by Supreme Court appointment.
Jones withdrew from consideration for that post.
