Moore files petitions for independent mayoral run

QUINCY — Linda K. Moore submitted candidacy petitions at the City Clerk’s Office Tuesday for the office of Mayor as an independent candidate.

“I like elements of both parties’ platforms; however, I don’t agree 100% with either platform,” Moore said regarding her decision to run as an independent. “If you pull my voting record, you’ll see I’ve voted Republican and I’ve voted Democrat in the primaries since moving back to Quincy in 2016. As an independent, it is easier to reach both sides to find common ground and achieve the best results for our community.

“When I was appointed to the office of Treasurer, I made a promise to the Adams County Democratic Central Committee that if I ran for reelection as Treasurer that I would run as a Democrat. I fulfilled that promise in 2021.”

Moore worked for 20 years at ESPN in Bristol, Conn. and also has 10 years teaching experience in the MBA program at Quincy University as well as seven years as city treasurer.

She said her platform will bring strong leadership and effective communication to the office and will work with the City Council to establish a culture of trust and transparency.

“Our employees need a leader who will set an example of service to our community,” she said. “We have good people who want a leader they can trust. Our citizens deserve a mayor who communicates frequently and effectively.”

Primaries for the consolidated election are Feb. 25, 2025 and the general consolidated election is April 1, 2025 with early voting beginning March 7.
