HANNIBAL, Mo. — A string of early morning vehicle break-ins on Wednesday that occurred around the western edge of Hannibal are under investigation by the Hannibal Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Department.

Both departments report that officers are in the process of obtaining further information from witnesses and victims.

Hannibal Police Chief Jacob Nacke said in a Wednesday afternoon email that “it appears the suspects traveled within the city as well as unincorporated areas by vehicle.”

“We encourage citizens to remove valuables from their vehicles, along with locking their vehicle doors. These are believed to be crimes of opportunity,” he said.

Anyone with video footage or information is asked to contact the Hannibal Police Department by visiting our website at www.hannibalpd.com, or contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Department at rlawzano@Marioncounty-mo.gov or 573-629-0417.
