One dead in Camp Point, Clayton teen arrested following shooting
CAMP POINT, Ill. — A 22-year-old male is dead and an 18-year-old is in custody after a body was delivered to the Adams County EMS station in Camp Point early Monday morning.
Adams County Sheriff Tony Grootens said deputies are still searching for a murder weapon and investigators are trying to determine where the fatal shooting took place. The Illinois State Police are also involved in the investigation.
Wyond Bynum, Jr., 18, of Clayton was arrested Monday. He will make an appearance in Adams County Circuit Court Monday afternoon.
The shooting took place early Monday morning. Grootens said at first three men were in custody, but the two who took the body to the ambulance station were released. The suspected shooter is being formally charged this morning.
Adams County EMS took the body to the Blessing Hospital emergency room where he was pronounced dead.
Grootens said his office will hold a news conference with further details Monday afternoon.
