Perry, Mo. woman charged with endangering child at daycare

Perry, Mo. – The Ralls County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Perry woman following a report of an injured child at a daycare facility.

On Tuesday, just before 10 a.m., the Perry Police Department responded to a call of an infant not breathing at a local daycare. A male juvenile child was airlifted from Perry to a hospital in St Louis for medical treatment.  According to the Missouri Department of Social Services, the child, who was less than a year old, had a fractured skull, brain bleed, and a detached retina.

A subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Cherish Jade Maxwell-Riley, 19, of Perry.

On Thursday, charges were filed in Ralls County Circuit Court, charging Maxwell-Riley with Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 1st degree, with a bond of $100,000, cash only. She is scheduled to appear in Ralls County Circuit Court Monday morning.

The Ralls County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Perry Police Department and the Ralls County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
