Nothing says Fourth of July in Hannibal quite like mud-covered volleyball players sloshing knee-deep and diving face first into the sludge on the riverfront. The 45th annual mud volleyball tournament is under way during National Tom Sawyer Days. After two days of junior competition, the adult competition started at noon Friday. A champion will be crowned on Sunday. Samantha Carmean was on hand to capture some of the first-round action.
