QFD responds to Saturday night fire at Casino Lanes complex
QUINCY – A mechanical fire near the apartments above the Casino Lanes bowling alley Saturday night filled the building with smoke, but the fire was quickly extinguished.
The Quincy Fire Department responded to the scene at 1201 N. 20th at 8:30 p.m. after smoke was reported coming from the building. The general alarm consisted of Engine Companies #6, #4, #2 and the Incident Commander.
Upon arrival, there was significant smoke coming from the eaves of the northeast portion of the building. The Incident Commander then called for an additional crew to assist in searching the large building and they entered at various locations searching for the source of the smoke, which was found in the upstairs apartments.
The fire was coming from a mechanical room between the apartments that housed furnaces and water heaters and it was quickly extinguished. Work continued with overhaul and ventilation until the area was clear of any smoke.
Investigators inspected the area and were unable to find the specific cause of the fire, so it is labeled as undetermined.
QFD a total of 13 firefighters on scene, including four engines and the Incident Commander. QFD
was also assisted by the QFD Rehab team, Quincy Police Department, Adams County Ambulance, Ameren Gas and Electric.
