QUINCY — Hundreds of runners and walkers took to the streets of Quincy Saturday morning as part of the Quincy Medical Group’s 24th annual Bridge the Gap to Health Race.

Participants can choose a 5K, 10K or half marathon routes that cross over the Bayview Bridge into Missouri before crossing back into Illinois for the finish. Younger participants took part in the Paul Arndt Fun Run.

The mission of the race is to help “bridge the gap” of a need in our community. The YWCA Supportive Housing Program is pivotal in assisting a vulnerable population needing shelter. By providing financial support to the YWCA Supportive Housing Program, Quincy Medical Group aims to move people and families off the streets and into an educational program that imparts valuable life skills.

The hands-on approach also offers guidance and support from dedicated case managers who help individuals meet critical goals, such as achieving financial independence, strengthening family bonds, and making informed decisions for their future.
