HANNIBAL, Mo. — A new spot in Hannibal is offering a full scope of services perfect for a day out with the girls or an afternoon of self-care.

Located in the Stardust Spa Building, the complex offers an entire experience with a coffee house, hair salon and nail salon.  Although each business can visited separately as well.

The Stardust Coffee House opened about three weeks ago and recently changed their hours to open 7 days a week from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.  Not only is it part of the Stardust Spa building, but they also have a wifi password posted and welcome guests to come and work or study.

“We would like to encourage people to come in and work. We already have someone that comes in almost on a daily basis,” said Bethany Gardener manager of the coffee house.

Gardener said since they have opened they’ve received good reviews. Especially on the taste of their product.

“People generally really like our product. We use a different type of bean than anyone else in town,” she said. “It is locally roasted. The taste difference is really significant.”

Offering an array of both hot and cold, coffee and non-coffee drinks, there are 21 different selections of Lotus Energy Drinks such as Mint To Be with vanilla, lime, pineapple coconut, and blue lotus, to Banana Split which consists of vanilla, banana, cherry, cream and red lotus. There are also coffee drinks, lattes and tea, and Frappuccinos to choose from.

Gardener and Kady Minks, also a manager at Stardust Coffee House, are encouraged to make their own creations.

“We are always coming up with new stuff. Kady invented the Peach Cobbler lotus and one day when we were working together, we came up with the Green Carmel apple lotus,” said Gardener. “It’s really fun.”

They also offer a variety of sugar-free flavors including chocolate, white chocolate and caramel. This gives the option for sugar-free hot chocolate and many other combinations.

Owners of the Stardust Spa are husband and wife team Roger and Chano Reynolds, and the property is more to them just a building, it was a labor of love from the ground up. It all started with long days where the couple spent their days off preparing an empty lot where they would eventually break ground on the building.

“There was nothing here when we started. It was just a jungle,” said Roger. “Everything here wanted to sting you, bite you and make you bleed. There was some gnarly stuff here.”

Once the lot was cleared, the Reynolds and others began work on the building. They hired out the floors and walls and his nephew, who had experience in framing, came out to work. They also had help from Bennie Dodd, who continues to help out at the shop.

The counter in the coffee shop was made by Roger along with the tables which he made out of pallets. He also created the very real-looking bricks on the outside and inside of the building. The Reynolds did all the decorating themselves, creating a warm and inviting environment.

Nail technician, Danielle, did the wall art at the coffee shop and in the nail salon.

Concentrating on the space where the coffee shop is now, they opened the nail salon first, giving Chano, an already experienced nail technician, a place to work.

The Stardust Nail spa has now moved to the end of the building and connects to the Stardust Hair Depot.

Not only do they nails but they are also offering something new to Hannibal, which has trended in other areas of the country.

They are called Tooth Gems and they are exactly what they sound like.

These gems are placed on teeth using the same adhesive that dentists use to put brackets on braces and requires no drilling. Tooth Gem Technician Kaley Vasquez said that putting on tooth gems is a painless procedure that takes about 20 minutes. They can be removed by a dentist at anytime and do not harm teeth.

Vasquez also said the procedure is dentist-approved and that having tooth gems should inspire better teeth care.

“It is very serious that you take care of your teeth. You have to floss around the gems and keep up with your normal dental cleanings,” she said. “They shine them and can make them super sparkly.”

Tooth gems are available in many different sizes and colors. Vasquez said multiple small gems on one tooth is called a chandelier tooth and it really makes a tooth shine.

They also offer charms, which are 18-20 carrot gold in rose gold, white gold and yellow gold which can come in zodiac signs, the Nike swish or other designs.

Gardener said the working environment at the Stardust Spa is something she loves about the job.

“They have a really happy family of workers here. Everyone is really close and gets along great,” she said. “They take good care of their employees.”
