Two people killed in domestic violence incident Saturday night in Macomb

MACOMB, Ill. — Two people were killed when officers with the Macomb Police Department arrived at an active domestic violence incident Saturday night.

At approximately 10:03 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, officers responded to the 900 block of N. Charles for an active domestic violence incident. One female had been stabbed multiple times. The female escaped and was taken to McDonough District Hospital for treatment. Two people were killed. A Macomb Police officer discharged their weapon. A press release from Jeff Hamer, chief of the Macomb Police Department, said the investigation is ongoing.

Macomb Police Department policy calls for the matter to be turned over to the Illinois State Police for investigation. Involved officers have been placed on administrative leave.
