USA pool championships return to Quincy July 6-12

QUINCY — The Billiard Congress of America and Greater Midwest Pool Players Association (GMPA) has announced the Masters USA National Men and Masters USA National Women Pool Championships July 6-12. The National Juniors Championships and the North American Wheelchair Championships will take place July 7-12. These prestigious championships are presented by SeeQuincy and will be held at the Oakley-Lindsay Civic Center located at 300 Civic Center Plaza. 

Hundreds of pool players from North America and other areas world-wide will participate in various singles within the seven-day event. All pool league players are invited as well as unaffiliated players.

The Pro Men, 9-Ball and 10-Ball will take place July 6-9. The Pro Women, 8-Ball and 10-Ball will be held July 8-12. All are world qualifiers. The prize fund will include $20,000 along with all-expense paid trips for the top finishers to attend the world championships.

The Billiard Education Foundation 37th annual Junior Nationals championship also returns and kicks off with play on July 7. The Junior Championship is the most significant event for junior competitors on the continent. Players vie to win over $15,000 in prizes and scholarships in addition to the exclusive spot representing North America on the world stage at the upcoming September championships in New Zealand. Junior competitors may enter online at billiardeducation.org.  

The North American Wheelchair championships will be held July 7-12. Play begins each day at 9 a.m. Cash and prizes will be awarded to the top finishers. 

The third annual PBIA/ACS Instructor Summit will convene on July 9 at The Atrium Hotel. Participation includes members from across the country with a meet-and-greet at 7 p.m. on July 8. The public is invited to attend and mingle with the finest instructors in the billiard world.   

The GMPA and the City of Quincy are also proud to welcome the Billiard Congress of America (BCA) Board members to their annual meeting. Shane Tyree, CEO of the BCA, along with some of the most prominent movers and shakers in the billiard community, are anticipated to attend. Many will be cruising the arena during the pool events, introducing themselves and chatting about the industry.    

D&D Cues will be on site for cue sticks, accessories and professional cue repair.

Commemorative specials and giveaways will be offered throughout the event, along with a custom cue stick raffle and billiard accessory package auction. Spectators are welcome to attend free of charge. All proceeds aid the Junior players of the Billiard Education Fund. 

The week-long billiard gala is supported by the City of Quincy BET on Q, SeeQuincy and the Oakley Lindsay Center.    

The event will be globally streamed.
