QUINCY — Incumbent Democratic Alderman Ben Uzelac took all three votes in the 7th Ward that were verified Tuesday afternoon by the Adams County Clerk’s Office.

Uzelac defeated Republican challenger Tim Siemer 208 votes to 205 votes. Write-in candidates received 13 votes.

About 20 people were in attendance, including Siemer and Uzelac as well as Adams County’s Central Committee party chairs Republican Dave Bockhold and Democrat Kate Daniels.

“I was comfortable with the process all along,” Uzelac said. “I am 100 percent confident in elections in Adams County and I’m glad (Adams County Clerk) uses paper ballots.”

Siemer said he was considering his options, including possibly requesting a recount. He said he wanted to examine what the process would cost.

Adams County Republican Central Committee Chair Dave Bockhold and Adams County Democratic Central Committee Chair prepare to observe the final vote tabulation for the April 4 consolidated election.
