QUINCY – The City of Quincy is responding to a water main break that occurred at the riverfront on Tuesday, July 15. City crews are on-site and actively working to assess the extent of the damage and initiate repairs.

Public Works Director Jeff Conte said the break occurred at 4:30 p.m. and was capped around 8:30 p.m.

Due to ongoing construction at the water treatment plant, residents on the east end of town may experience low water pressure. City officials are also asking all residents to voluntarily conserve water for some uses such as watering lawns until further notice to help maintain system stability while the issue is addressed.

At this time, it is too early to determine whether a boil order will be required. Water quality testing is underway, and the city will provide updates as soon as more information is available.

The City of Quincy is working to resolve the situation as quickly and safely as possible, with all efforts focused on restoring service smoothly and minimizing disruptions for residents.
