Jake Griffin and Ross Bartlett aren’t your average coffee shop owners — they’re two driven, fun-loving guys with a knack for hustle and a passion for building something of their own. Nestled in the heart of Quincy’s social scene — right next to Quincy University and adjacent to the legendary Barmuda Triangle — their new coffee shop is perfectly positioned for everything from morning study sessions to early evening post-bar pick-me-ups.

Any business owner will say when it comes to success, it’s all about location, location, location. Today marks one month since Roost Coffee Company opened its doors in the old Warner’s Dry Cleaning shop at 617 N. 18th Street.

“Jake and I had no idea the extent of friends and family we had until we opened shop. The love and support from old and new friends have been surreal! We are beyond grateful to anyone that has and continues to come through the doors.”

And while it may not have been entirely planned out, their business is in the ideal location for a beverage shop.

The duo originally toyed with the idea of launching a scooter and moped rental business, but insurance hurdles steered them in a different direction. Now, with ethically sourced beans from Gobina — a company that gives back to communities in Ethiopia — they’re brewing up something even better.

Their drinks are thoughtfully crafted, and the shop is infused with personality, creative energy, and just enough caffeine to keep the city buzzing. They plan to experiment with new flavors, stay active on social media, and keep the menu fresh for regulars and first timers alike.

Even with coffee in their blood, both Jake and Ross juggle other gigs. Jake sells cars by day and lives life in the fast lane — literally — with a history of NASCAR events and a spot on the upcoming season at Quincy Raceways. Ross works with his uncle at Fish Window Cleaning, bringing sparkle to storefronts across town.

The coffee shop is more than a business — it’s a creative outlet, a community hub, and a symbol of their entrepreneurial spirit. The drinks? They’re just a bonus to keep these hardworking guys (and the rest of us) fueled up and ready to roll.
