It’s Primary Day in Illinois
QUINCY — The polls opened at 6 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m.
Turnout is expected to be light, despite some hotly contested races on the state and federal tickets.
Adams County polling places are listed below:
State Senator Darren Bailey, Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin and entrepreneur Jesse Sullivan are the only candidates for governor on the Republican ballot who have been polling in double digits, so one of the three is expected to emerge as the nominee to take on incumbent Democratic Governor JB Pritzker in November.
Two incumbent members of Congress have been campaigning hard in the final days before the primary as Republicans Mary Miller and Rodney Davis square off for one seat thanks to a Democratic gerrymander.
There are also contests on both sides of the statewide ballot for secretary of state to replace the retiring Jesse White.
Thomas DeVore and Steve Kim are the two favorites as one will advance to take on incumbent Democrat Kwame Raoul for Illinois attorney general.
On the local level there are several Adams County Board races to watch as well as precinct committeeman races.
Muddy River News will have a full report once the results are tallied.
