Two teens in possession of ghost guns arrested by Quincy Police

QUINCY — Two Quincy teens were arrested Wednesday by the Quincy Police Department after they were found to be in possession of ghost guns. One of the teens was arrested in connection to a Nov. 1 shooting incident in the Sixth and Chestnut area that also led to the arrests of two other Quincy men.

Units with the Quincy Police Department responded Friday, Dec. 9, to the Quincy Town Center on a report of a disturbance involving multiple subjects. While officers conducted preliminary investigations, another “shots fired” call came out on the northeast side of Quincy in which a vehicle was struck and damaged. No people were injured. Further investigation suggested the two incidents were related.

Information gathered by QPD detectives led them on Wednesday, Dec. 14 to a residence on N. Granview Drive. A search of the home revealed an unserialized rifle, commonly referred to as a ghost gun. A 17-year-old male resident was arrested for possession of an unserialized firearm and possession of a firearm without a FOID card. He was lodged at the Adams County Juvenile Detention Center. 

Also on Wednesday, Dec. 14, officers with the Quincy Police Department found and arrested a 16-year-old male in the 3400 block of Maine. This male subject was wanted on an active arrest warrant for aggravated discharge of a firearm, in connection to the Sixth and Chestnut shooting. He was lodged at the Adams County Juvenile Detention Center.

A subsequent search of a vehicle associated with the 16-year-old male was conducted, and three firearms were located and seized. One of those firearms also was a non-serialized firearm.

During the arrest of the 16-year-old male, Terron Cartmill Jr., 18, was found in possession of a large amount of suspected cannabis and U.S. currency. Cartmill was issued a citation and released with a court date for unlawful possession with intent to deliver more than 30 grams but not more than 500 grams of a substance containing cannabis.

A press release from the Quincy Police Department said investigations are ongoing, and additional arrests are possible.
