Hendrian sisters encourage other children to offer lemonade stand for good on Sept. 2

QUINCY — Grace and June Hendrian, daughters of Adam and Kellea Hendrian of Quincy, are once again offering a lemonade stand for good to benefit The Salvation Army.

The Hendrian sisters invite other children to join them in raising funds for The Salvation Army through a community-wide lemonade stand for good event on Saturday, Sept. 2.

In a press release, Kellea Hendrian said, “We invite other families, church groups, teams, and anyone looking to give back to the community to join our family in doing the most good by hosting a lemonade stand. Hosting a stand is great for so many reasons. First, it teaches kids empathy and compassion. Second, it’s great for the parents because they can see their kids happy and thriving and doing something for others. Lastly, the children are creating memories that will last a lifetime.”

Most stands will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. Grace and June’s stand will be at Hardy’s Radiator (on North 12th across from the Illinois Veterans Home entrance.) Children across The Salvation Army Quincy Area Command service area (Adams, Pike and Brown counties in Illinois, and Marion, Ralls, Lewis, Shelby and Monroe counties in Missouri) are encouraged to be the host of a stand at their homes or local businesses.

Each stand can customize what drinks and treats they want to sell.

Lemonade stand participants must contact Tina Lewis at 217-231-5626 to register their stand. The registration deadline is Aug. 18. The Salvation Army will provide each stand with a start-up kit. The kit will include an iconic red kettle, tablecloth, official Grace and June lemonade stand signage and payment information for The Salvation Army. All funds raised during this event will be given directly to The Salvation Army’s Family Services, which combats homelessness and hunger by working with people to assess needs and provide resources.

Grace and June have raised more than $11,000 since 2019 for The Salvation Army.
