Salvation Army to ring in Christmas season with first weekend of kettles on Friday, Saturday
QUINCY — The familiar sights and sounds of red kettles and bells will soon return as The Salvation Army Quincy Area Command begins its first days of fundraising for its Christmas campaign in Quincy on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 10-11. Kettles will resume full-time for the season on Friday, Nov. 17, in Quincy and Hannibal and continue through Saturday, Dec. 23.
People, groups and organizations are needed as volunteers as a Salvation Army bell ringer. Volunteers can register for a two-hour shift or adopt-a-kettle for an entire day. Tegister online at RegisterToRing.com or contact Tina Lewis at 217-231-5626 or tina.lewis@usc.salvationarmy.org.
Funds raised from the red kettles remain local to support The Salvation Army and its services, such as holiday meals and toys, shelter for people experiencing homelessness, job assistance and more.
The Salvation Army provides various programs and services to assist families in need in the counties of Adams, Brown and Pike in Illinois and the counties of Marion, Ralls, Lewis, Monroe and Shelby in Missouri.
