Quincy Salvation Army’s annual Captain Kettle Mascot Challenge begins Monday
QUINCY — The Quincy Salvation Army has announced the return of the Captain Kettle Mascot Challenge, inviting the community to showcase their school spirit while supporting a worthy cause. Join us in spreading holiday cheer, supporting local teams and making a difference.
This friendly competition features local mascots — the Quincy High School Blue Devil, Quincy Notre Dame’s Raider, John Wood Community College’s Woody the Trailblazer, Liberty High School’s Eagle and Quincy University’s Victor E. Hawk. These mascots will compete for the prestigious Captain Kettle Mascot Challenge Trophy by ringing bells for The Salvation Army at designated locations.
Bell-ringing schedule:
- Notre Dame Raider: Tuesday, Dec. 3, 4 to 6 p.m., HyVee Broadway
- Quincy University Victor E. Hawk: Wednesday, Dec. 4, 5 to 7 p.m., Niemanns on 24th Street
- Liberty High School Eagle: Wednesday, Dec. 4, 5 to 7 p.m., HyVee Broadway
- John Wood Community College Woody the Trailblazer: Thursday, Dec. 5, 5 to 7 p.m., HyVee Broadway
“This event is a fantastic way for the community to show their support for their favorite teams while helping The Salvation Army meet its Christmas fundraising goal,” Jeremy Koren, mascot challenge coordinator, said in a press release. “We’re thrilled to see the excitement and generosity of our community during this holiday season.”
The winning mascot will be announced the week of Dec. 9 on The Salvation Army Quincy Facebook page.
