With deep sadness and profound gratitude, Chaddock mourns the passing of longtime board president and cherished friend, Dwayne “D.D.” Fischer, who passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, surrounded by his loved ones.

For more than 50 years, D.D. Fischer dedicated his heart, wisdom and unwavering faith to the mission of Chaddock. From his early years as a teacher to his leadership as vice president of finance and most recently as president of the board of directors, D.D.’s impact on Chaddock has been immeasurable. His humble spirit and servant leadership helped guide Chaddock through seasons of growth, change and renewed purpose.

D.D. embodied everything Chaddock stands for – faith, relationships, compassion and a commitment to healing. His leadership wasn’t about recognition. It was about doing what was right for the children and families we serve. We are heartbroken, but we are also immensely grateful for the legacy he leaves behind.

In honor of D.D.’s lifelong service to Chaddock and his enduring love for the campus and its mission, a special tribute will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, May 9, when D.D. will take one final ride through Chaddock’s grounds. Staff, residents and friends will line the drive to offer a heartfelt sendoff and give thanks to a man who gave so much. All Chaddock staff and members of the extended Chaddock community are invited to join in this moment of reflection and farewell.

Funeral services for D.D. will be held at St. Francis Solanus Church in Quincy. Visitation will take place from 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 9 with a funeral Mass on 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10.

D.D. Fischer’s light, leadership and legacy will forever remain woven into the heart of Chaddock.
