Annual 4-H Fight to the Finish combines the farm and feats
MENDON, Ill. — Gathering eggs, and stacking bales seems like some standard chores around the farm, but it was all part of an agricultural obstacle course Sunday, July 25, at the Adams County Fair. More than 100 people turned out to watch the fair’s seventh annual 4-H Fight to the Finish. Local 4-H clubs put together 22 teams competing to win hundreds of dollars in prize money for their clubs.
Teams competed in a variety of different challenges including moving a hay wagon by hand and transporting feed bags in wheelbarrows.
The top winners were members of the Holy Heroes 4-H Club. They were awarded a check for $250 to use for club projects.
Final standings:
Senior Division:
- First: Holy Heroes
- Second: Burton Flyers
- Third: Holy Heroes (another team)
Junior Division
- First: Central Adams Firecrackers
- Second: Holy Heroes
- Third: Burton Flyers
Fair Board Directors began this event several years ago to support area youth and local 4-H clubs and their club projects while providing fun entertainment for fairgoers.
