QUINCY — The Quincy Noon Kiwanis Club and The Salvation Army have partnered to offer the Ken Bigelow Kids’ Day at Camp Saukenauk for a free afternoon of summer fun.

The kids’ day, for children ages 5-12, will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 22. A refundable $5 deposit is due at the time of registration.

In a press release, youth development and outreach specialist Jakin Logsdon said, “Not every child can have a summer camp experience. We love providing all children in our community with an opportunity to make fun summer memories at Camp Saukenauk.”

Available activities will be swimming, row boating, fishing, hiking, snacks and a cookout.

The event is named after a lifelong and locally famous Kiwanian. Bigelow was a member of the Quincy Noon Kiwanis Club from February 1962 until he died in July 2010. He served as Kiwanis president and as Lt. Governor of Division 29 of the II District of Kiwanis International. He always made it clear that taking the Salvation Army kids to Camp Saukenauk was his favorite Kiwanis activity.

Transportation from the Kroc Center will be provided. Participants are asked to be at the Kroc Center by 8 a.m. for departure.

To register, parents should visit the Welcome Desk at The Kroc Center.
