QUINCY — The Salvation Army is taking applications in Quincy for Christmas food baskets and the Angel Tree through Friday, Nov. 18. People living in Adams, Pike, and Brown counties in Illinois with children ages 18 and under or seniors ages 60 and over are invited to register for assistance online at www.SAAngelTree.org or in person at The Kroc Center.

The Salvation Army previously held Toy Town, where parents/guardians shopped for their children. With the Angel Tree program, parents/guardians will register for both needs and wishes this year. Seniors ages 60 and over also are invited to register for the Angel Tree program.

Children and seniors registered for the program may receive clothing, toys or other requested items listed at the time of registration. All who register for the Angel Tree program will also receive a food box
filled with various items for a Christmas meal. Individuals only registering for a Christmas food box will need to register in person at The Kroc Center during one of the available registration dates.

Once registered, tags (digital and physical) will be created and made available to shoppers for adoption. Gifts purchased for the program must be delivered to The Kroc Center for distribution day by Dec. 19.

In a press release, Maj. Shelley McClintock said, “Anyone who qualifies for free or reduced lunches also qualifies for the Angel Tree program.”

Applicants must provide photo identification, birth certificates or any official document that lists family members/parent(s)/guardian(s) and children, address verification (dated within 30 days) and must meet Health and Human Services poverty guidelines.

In-person registration will take place at The Kroc Center, 405 Vermont, on Nov. 7 from 2-6 p.m., Nov. 8 from 9 a.m.-noon and Nov. 9 from 4-6 p.m.

People wishing to adopt an angel can find tags at The Kroc Center, Town Square Media or online at
https://bit.ly/QuincyAngelTree after Nov. 1.
