Salvation Army Quincy Area Command announces Christmas assistance programs for Illinois service area
QUINCY — The Salvation Army Quincy Area Command has opened applications for its Christmas Food Box and Angel Tree programs, providing holiday assistance to families in need.
Eligible residents of Adams, Pike and Brown counties in Illinois can register for a food box, and families with children aged 18 and under or seniors aged 60 and older are invited to register for the Angel Tree program.
Registration is available online at www.SAAngelTree.org. The final in-person application event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Nov. 25. People seeking only a Christmas Food Box may register online or in person at The Kroc Center on Nov. 25.
Through the Angel Tree program, parents or guardians can register to receive gifts based on their child’s needs and wishes. Registered children and seniors may receive items such as clothing, toys and other requested gifts. Each family in the Angel Tree program will receive a Christmas food box.
Upon registration, digital and physical Angel Tree tags will be created for shoppers to adopt. All gifts purchased for the program must be delivered to The Kroc Center or the location from which the angel was adopted by Dec. 11 to ensure they are ready for distribution.
Applicants must bring photo identification, proof of meeting Health and Human Services poverty guidelines, birth certificates or official documents listing family members and address verification dated within 30 days.
Those interested in adopting an angel can find tags at The Kroc Center, NutritionHQ., Vallee Health Repair, Kirlin’s, Krazy Town Trampoline Park, Townsquare Media, First Mid Bank and Trust (33rd and Broadway), or online at SalvationArmyQuincy.org.
