Salvation Army to celebrate National Donut Day Friday at Illinois Veterans Home

QUINCY, Ill. — In celebration of National Donut Day on Friday, June 6, The Salvation Army will have a Donut Day presentation for Illinois Veterans Home residents at Fifer Hall (Eighth and Sycamore) at 10 a.m. The presentation will include a look at the history behind Donut Day and music from The Salvation Army brass band. The State of Illinois VFW Auxiliary is providing donuts for all residents of the Illinois Veterans Home that morning.

In a press release, Development Director Matt Schmidt said, “National Donut Day is a wonderful opportunity for us to honor and show our appreciation to the veterans who have given so much for our country. Sharing a simple donut with these heroes is our way of saying thank you and recognizing their incredible service and sacrifice.”
