KAMPSVILLE, Ill. — Tammy Herren has done it again. This time with a little help from Mother Nature.

As the leaves start to take on their fall colors, the former Beverly Hills event designer has created another scene, this time one that serves as the perfect getaway to unwind and take in all that the season change. Whether you want to have a couple’s getaway, a self-retreat, or a mini family vacation, the Kamaroo Farms overnight stay packages serve as the perfect reset to both nature and relaxation.

Tammy and Mike Herren are the owners and operators of Kamaroo Farms, an alternative agriculture farm located in Kampsville, just south of Pleasant Hill. The last time we visited Tammy, she gave us an entertaining and educational tour which included a hands-on feeding of some of exotic animals. She gave us a sneak-peak of the cabin that was under renovation for an Airbnb stay on the farm grounds. Now that everything is ready, she is ready to set the scene for you to stay the night.

The commute to the cabin is scenic itself.  As you travel Great River Road (Illinois 96), you take in all the colors of the trees on the bluffs along the winding road. Some great food and drinks can be had along the way which include a well-known biker bar, the Copperhead Tavern in New Canton, where the crab Rangoon is something to write about. There are also the options of Zeke’s Junction and the Atlas Café, both near the intersection of Illinois 54 & Illinois 96.

Another way to arrive is by plane…small, private aircraft, of course. Kamaroo has a 3,400 grass air strip to accommodate small planes (LL 77).

Once you arrive at the farm for your cabin stay, Tammy will provide you and your family with a similar hands-on tour that we were able to go on during our Muddy River interview. You will encounter some animals that you certainly don’t get to see every day in the Midwest and leave there with some Jack Hanna-like vibes.

The cabin includes a living area space, a bedroom, a bedroom loft, and kitchen and bathroom for an all-inclusive cozy stay. There is no tv, but cell service is good. The stay in the cabin is intended for you to have an opportunity to connect you with nature and cut all the distractions. We are consumed by technology.

This connection back to nature can serve as a reset to yourself or just a simply a time out for peace and cabin time with loved ones.

Other amenities included are access to a Polaris Ranger to go to and from the cabin and tour the grounds, a gas BBQ grill on the cabin porch, and a fire pit, located on the farm.

This Airbnb stay really does capture the bed and breakfast experience as they offer different food packages for the night stays. These options include a charcuterie board full of goods, a “fix your own breakfast” package that includes a dozen farm fresh eggs and 1 pound of bacon and pancake mix with syrup, or homemade freshly baked cinnamon rolls delivered at your desire time in the morning.

This Airbnb is unlike any other as Tammy has created a space that makes the perfect final getaway before winter hibernation so cabin night’s stay at Kamaroo Farms might be just what you need.

Book your stay today at Kamaroo Farms, which is available on both Airbnb and Vrbo or you can contact Tammy through the website at www.kamaroofarms.com or via phone at 310-486-8672.
