48 Hours segment on Bliefnick trial to run Saturday
Tim Bliefnick, who was convicted in May of murdering his estranged wife, Becky, talked to CBS News about his conviction along with his attorney Casey Schnack.
Also interviewed by Erin Moriarty were friends and relatives of Becky Bliefnick and members of the prosecution team.
The segment will air Saturday on the 48 Hours special, The Game Show and the Murder. Bliefnick still claims he did not kill Becky. He received three life sentences for the crime in August.
Becky Bliefnick, who had three sons with Tim Bliefnick, was found by her father in her home on February 23. She was found dead after being shot 14 times.
The episode, along with much of the national media, still focuses on his 2020 appearance on the game show “Family Feud”.
“The question was, ‘What is the number-one regret that people have from their wedding day?” Bliefnick said in the clip. “It wasn’t said with any malice or bad intentions. It was supposed to be funny.”
Bliefnick stirred the audience with his response to the question, “What’s the biggest mistake you made at your wedding?”
“Honey, I love you,…but… Said, ‘I do.'” Bliefnick continued, “Not my mistake! I love my wife.” He then jokingly added, “I’m going to get in trouble for that, aren’t I?”
Tim Bliefnick acknowledges in the 48 Hours preview that, due to their divorce proceedings, he “had to kind of make an assumption that, yeah, I probably was going to be a suspect” in his wife’s murder. However, he denies any involvement in her death.
“No, I did not murder Becky,” he said. “The idea of murdering someone — let alone the mother of my kids — is not any part of who I am.”
48 Hours: The Game Show and the Murder will air Saturday, Sept. 30, at 9 p.m. locally on KHQA-TV. It is also available to stream on Paramount+.
