Salvation Army announces Josh and Tieraney Craig as chairs of Tree of Lights Christmas campaign
QUINCY — The Salvation Army of Quincy started the Christmas season with its annual Tree of Lights
Christmas kickoff luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 10.
Campaign chairs Josh and Tieraney Craig, along with their two children, Falynn and Brecken, were introduced along with the announcement of the campaign goal of $435,000. “Love Beyond Christmas” is this year’s campaign theme.
In a press release, Tieraney Craig said, “We believe in doing the most good. By giving back, we are being the hands and feet of Jesus.”
“We are honored to take part in an organization that does so much for the people of Quincy,” Josh Craig added. “We want our children to recognize the impact each of them can create by participating in the campaign.”
The Salvation Amy provides a variety of programs and services to assist families in the counties of Adams, Pike and Brown in Illinois.
The Salvation Army Emergency Shelter and Family Services provided the following assistance during this year:
- 488 individuals received 3,726 nights of lodging at the emergency shelter.
- 24,138 meals were provided to shelter residents.
- 662 food boxes were given to the community.
- 28 households received utility assistance.
- 103 renters received rent assistance.
- 6,135 individuals were served by the daily bread line.
- 4,436 meals and 876 hygiene kits were distributed through the neighborhood Canteen Ministry.
Also, during the 2021 Christmas season:
- 800 families received Christmas food baskets.
- 7,098 toys were given to children in partnership with Toys for Tots.
- 973 individuals were provided dinner on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
