Letter to the Editor: Addition of provider committed to nurturing hope, healing families is welcomed

Hetzler and Associates

It was brought to our attention that the Quincy Plan Commission recently approved a special permit for the planned development of a counseling center that also provides court-ordered supervised visitation services. I want to provide clarification regarding access to such services to people in our community who need them.

Our office at Hetzler and Associates has and continues to be a resource for Partner Abuse Intervention Programs approved by the State of Illinois Department of Human Services, individual and family therapeutic services, family reunification services and court-ordered supervised visitation and exchange services — Child 1st Parenting Time Services — that have been ongoing since 2019.

We have been happy to serve as a trusted provider for not only Adams County but several of our surrounding counties and Missouri.

Child 1st Parenting Time Services is dedicated to promoting a strong and healthy relationship between parents and children by offering structured parenting time supervision. The needs of the children become the primary focus during visits while addressing the concerns of each parent, the courts and/or other interested parties. Our services provide the opportunity for children to have safe and consistent contact with both parents while avoiding complicated adult conflicts and matters that are going through litigation. All services are delivered by a qualified mental health professional.

Having been a provider of behavioral health and other social service programs in our community for several years, I know very well the demand for supportive resources needed to reach populations that may be underserved. My office would warmly welcome the addition of a provider who also is committed to nurturing hope and healing within families.
