Letter to the Editor: Class trip to Washington, D.C., fun to do and great learning experience

An aerial look at Washington, D.C.

At the end of my eighth-grade year, my classmates and I went on a school trip to Washington, D.C. I don’t know if other schools do this, but if they don’t, they should. It was not only a fun thing to do, but it also was a great learning experience.

While I was there, I went to a lot of museums, including the Holocaust Museum, which documented all the things that happened to the Jewish people during World War II. It’s important to remember these things so they don’t happen to anyone else.

I also went to a Washington Nationals baseball game during the trip. This was good because you get tired of going to museums all day after a while. It was a fun break.

We also went to the White House. This was cool because we got to see all the rooms and paintings. We even got to meet our senator, Dick Durbin. We also had a tour guide with us whenever we went places. He was very knowledgeable about the subjects and helped us learn a lot about history.

Overall, this was a great experience, and I hope other classes get to go in the future.
