Letter to the Editor: New baseball team can represent river and most talked-about construction project in town

Muddy River Roundabouts

After deep reflection and consideration, I’m officially rescinding my previous suggestion for the name of the Quincy team in the Prospect League. The name Mississippi Mavericks was nice, sure, but I think I’ve cracked the code for the perfect name.

Are you ready for it, Quincy?

Introducing the Muddy River Roundabouts!

Now, hear me out.

What better way to represent the essence of Quincy’s future than a roundabout? It’s not just a traffic feature. It’s a metaphor for life. Much like our new roundabout at 48th Street, the Muddy River Roundabouts will have everyone talking (and occasionally confused about where they’re supposed to go). It’s a symbol of progress and unity.

Just as this roundabout is changing the flow of our streets, our baseball team will change the flow of the game. We’ll keep the competition going in circles while we score all the runs. Plus, the name is sure to cause a buzz. After all, who can resist the charm of something that represents the muddy waters of our mighty Mississippi and the most talked-about construction project in town?

So, let’s embrace our future with the Muddy River Roundabouts — where the bases aren’t the only thing you’ll be circling!
