Letter to the Editor: Podcast provides review of events surrounding 1997 death of Iowa woman in Quincy

I am writing to share an important and deeply personal story with Muddy River News readers.

Recently, I had the opportunity to be a guest on “What Came Next,” a true crime podcast. I spoke about the tragic murder of my sister, Amanda Folker, in Quincy and the subsequent release of her killer. On Sept. 13, 2024, her murderer was granted early release and now is living in Quincy.

The podcast provides an in-depth look at the events surrounding my sister’s death, the justice system’s role in her case and the impact on my family. I believe this story is one that needs to be heard, not just for our family’s sake but for the larger community as well. It sheds light on the complexities of the criminal justice system and the emotional toll it takes on those left behind.
