We awoke Saturday morning to news of a war in the Middle East.

With all the world’s problems, it was a needed respite to return to a less stressful time, a time captured by the Quincy Museum’s annual Folk Life Festival.

For a few hours, families could enjoy music, crafts, exhibits, games and refreshments.  The sounds of childrens’ laughter was accompanied by dulcimer music and Irish folk songs. The aroma of buffalo BBQ and the distinctive smell of the blacksmith’s forge took us back to a different time.

Many thanks to the exhibitors, vendors, volunteers, staff and supporters for making this a great way to spend an early fall afternoon. Thanks also to those who attended the event and toured the Quincy Museum, the crown jewel of the Gem City.
